Most of us know somebody who has been affected by cancer, whether it is us, our family, our friends or our workmates.

A few of us who work at super funds in South Australia got together and thought “We can do something about this”. We’re young(ish), we’re fit(ish), and we’re strange enough to think that riding our bikes 1,000 kms around beautiful SA to raise money will be fun. Check out the “Who are we?” page for more info on whose bright idea this was.

To double the fun we pressganged anybody we knew who listened into joining us. Adelaide hills and surrounds

The ride from Sunday 22 April to Saturday 28 April 2012 is taking us 1,000 kms around SA. The Adelaide Hills four winemaking areas, Spencer Gulf, the southern Flinders Ranges and the Murray.  Lots of beautiful parts of our beautiful country. See “What are we doing?” for more info. How can you be involved? Ride with us. After all, it’s a week of fun, and think about the distance as a nice 25 km ride (and then a few more 25 km rides).

If you can’t commit to a full week of riding, then you are welcome to join us for a single day ride. Check out the route and select the day/s that would challenge you the most. And why turn it into a charity event? Because we can. A lot of people in regional SA are affected by cancer, and need to come to Adelaide for treatment. The money that we raise will be going to Cancer Council SA’s accommodation facilities at Cancer Council Lodge Greenhill, Flinders and Seaview for these people and their families, which make it just that little bit easier. We see this as a chance for super funds to show that it’s not all just about taking money from people every pay, but that we can give some back as well. If you want to ride either the full distance, or one or more days, send an email to supercycle2012@gmail.com telling us what you’d like to do, and we’ll reply with the forms and other information.

If you can’t join us, please sponsor a rider, or help us out with a general donation. Or just leave us a message of support. Do whatever you can!

  1. Great concept guys and a great cause.
Anyone that saw Australian Story last night must be moved to don the lycra and have a go.
Hope it is a great success.

    • Hi Wayne,

      Thanks for your message.

The best thing to do is contact the SuperCycle organising committee at supercycle2012@gmail.com and they will provide you with a Registration of Interest form.

Once you have registered, you are provided with your own personal fundraising page and tips on how to fundraise in the lead up to the ride.

      Best of luck!

  2. Fantastic initiative guys.
Red Button Technologies would like to lend our support to this fund raising exercise. So as well as sponsoring Mark Day for $500, we’ll donate a further $10 for every person who opens a FREE, BASIC or PREMIUM account on our new Personal Alert System at http://www.assureconnect.com.au
Just type the word “supercycle” in the comment field when you create your account.
